چکیده
Rural and agricultural modernization industrialization (RAMI) increased in recent decades a multiscalar way. RAMI has implied the rural landscape transformation through arrival of industrial models. These processes have not been linear or unidirectional; heterogeneities, opposites, mosaics, hybridizations, new interactions, problems, tensions, between traditional agriculture other types, emerged. We tackle problematized processes, which is complex real-world problem, from Sustainability Science (SS) transdisciplinarity. Thus, considering studies experiences different areas world, an epistemological positioning presented, allows overcoming scientific frontiers relating it to sustainability. delve into Lake Pátzcuaro Basin (LPB), Mexico, area with strong tradition (“milpa” systems). Recently, presence (mainly avocado monoculture berry greenhouses) increased, occurring coexistence peasant-entrepreneurs, indigenous–non-indigenous, new-rural. The article aims understand comprehensively emerging complexities RAMI, deepening LPB’s real case. approach developed allow us conceive interaction possible complementation agriculture, emergence included middle that corresponds “emerging complexity”. Finally, relevant topics questions are highlighted.
